Here are some highlights of Gazon Bastien’s history:

1963 – Founder Adrien Bastien sows his first batch of turf on an eight-arpent (6.76 acre) patch of family-owned land in Duvernay, Laval.

1968 – Building on the success of the first batch, production quickly increased to 200 arpents (169 acres).

1969 - Gazon Bastien is established in Terrebonne and acquires new land.

1986 – Founder Adrien Bastien retires. His sons François Bastien and Daniel Bastien take over the business as president and vice-president respectively.

1986 - Gazon Bastien emerges as an industry leader after making major investments to optimize production techniques, acquire new land and carry out research and development for a full product line.

1992 - Gazon Bastien starts bentgrass production.

2000 - Gazon Bastien becomes the first producer in Quebec to use a satellite-controlled irrigation system.

2001 - François Bastien retires. Daniel Bastien becomes company president and assumes sole ownership.

2003 - Gazon Bastien exports products to the US. New products and services are offered to meet customers’ needs.

2005 - Gazon Bastien takes part in renovating the prestigious Royal Montreal Golf Club in preparation for the President’s Cup.

2007 - Gazon Bastien is chosen to produce turf specifically for the new Saputo Stadium, home of the Montreal Impact professional soccer team.

2008 – Setting the stage for a dynamic new generation, Daniel Bastien’s eldest son, Alexandre, joins the company.

2008 - Gazon Bastien is awarded the Ordre du Mérite Agricole, which is presented to Quebec companies that have excelled in various areas.

2010 - Gazon Bastien produces a special turf for a match at Olympic Stadium between AC Milan and the Montreal Impact.
